Bought A New Refrigerator? 3 Ways To Keep It Maintained And Looking Great

by Emilius Das

If you purchased a new Frigidaire appliance you can help it last much longer if you provide the right maintenance for you. This will save you a lot of money in the long run as you know how expensive refrigerators can be. Providing some types of maintenance will also help the new refrigerator stay looking great. To help you get started, below is more information about this.

Clean Rubber Seal

You need to clean the rubber seal that runs around the refrigerator and freezer doors. If these seals do not stay clean they will not provide a tight seal. This will allow air to escape from the refrigerator and freezer and warm air will get inside also. You can use a standard cleaner to clean these seals. Simply spray the seals and wipe them down with a clean, damp rag.

While cleaning if you notice any part of the seals have deterioration you need to hire a technician to replace them immediately.

Clean the Coils

The condenser coils should be cleaned. This should be done at least twice per year, or more than this if you have a pet that sheds. Condenser coils are important because they are what removes heat from your refrigerator, as well as the freezer. The refrigerator will also have to work harder to remove the heat, which can reduce the life of this appliance.

You will find these coils underneath your refrigerator at the back or the front. First, use a vacuum cleaner with an extension to remove any dust and debris around the coils. Once this is done, purchase a coil brush to scrub the coils. This brush has bristles and has a long handle to help you reach the coils.

If you need help with this refer to the user's manual for your refrigerator.

Keep the Freezer Full

You don't want the freezer so full you can hardly close the door but keeping the space filled tightly will help your freezer. This is because this helps new food that you put in the freezer to freeze faster. This is because the other frozen food will help provide colder air.

Keeping the refrigerator full will also help extend the life of your refrigerator. This is because the freezer will not have to work as hard to freeze food.

Have the refrigerator maintained on a yearly basis by a professional. If you notice any problems at all call the refrigerator contractor immediately.
